Tanzania, officially the United Republic of Tanzania, is located in Eastern Africa. The country was formed by the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964. The capital city is Dodoma. The official language is Swahili language but English is also spoken widely all over the country.

The mighty landscape which includes the Islands and the coastal plains to the east; the inland saucer-shaped plateau; and the highlands attracts a lot of tourist all-round the year. The Great Rift Valley that runs from north east of Africa through central Tanzania and the pristine sandy beaches are other landmarks that adds to the scenic view of the country.

The main hindrance which the education system has to face is by the viscous circle of poverty. The children are enthusiastic about learning but lack of money makes learning difficult. Parents are not able to pay for school fees. Lack of proper infrastructure, poor facilities in schools and colleges, lack of funds from governments have all been major causes for the slow growth of education sector in the country.

It has made significant development in agriculture and private sector development also. Although being one of the least developed countries in Africa, it has given importance to education. English is the second language being widely used and Kiswahili is a compulsory subject. But poor command over English of both teachers and students is a major reason for academic under-achievement in secondary schools as well as colleges. The system of Education in Tanzania still has to amend itself in lot of issues.
